Background:
The CPC Professional Development Centre for Aboriginal Policing is pleased to announce it will be offering a course on Integrated Approaches to Domestic Violence in the Aboriginal Community Course (IADV) at the Canadian Police College. This two-week course will provide unique insight into the psychology and the dynamic of domestic violence in the aboriginal community.
Among other things, participants will discuss the legal requirements for the successful prosecution of criminal acts associated to domestic violence, restorative approaches to community healing, the development of police/community action plans to reduce and prevent the cycle of domestic violence and the ability to create high performance community based teams to address patterns of violence.
