Explosives Training

As the only organization offering explosives training in Canada, the Canadian Police College’s (CPC) program is in high demand. It provides police officers with basic and advanced skills related to the manipulation and investigative aspects: from learning to become an explosives technician to enhancing capabilities as a dog handler trained in explosives search; from gaining knowledge on how electronic components and circuitry function to the s kills required to gain entry in buildings or to coordinate a post blast scene.

The unit is comprised of highly trained police officers on secondment from various police services across Canada, who continuously upgrade their knowledge and skills with the latest technology and render-safe procedures. Guest instructors and subject-matter experts from international police services also participate in candidate training and evaluation in some courses.

Providing courses to Canadian and international police services, the Explosives Training team conducts its programs at CPC Ottawa, Ontario and at CPC West in Chilliwack, British Columbia, with scenarios performed both on and off campus.
