Forensic evidence plays an important role in the investigations of the most serious crimes. The Canadian Police College (CPC) plays an important role in setting the standards for forensic training across the country as well as internationally. Its forensic identification program aims to provide course participants with the knowledge, skills and abilities required to process a crime scene, conduct specialized expertise and present the evidence in a way that is acceptable to the courts to assist in rendering a verdict.
The Forensic Identification Training team offers an entry level course for personnel entering the field of forensic crime scene examination, as well as several advanced courses to more seasoned officers. With eight experienced forensic specialists, the team counts some of the world’s experts in footwear comparisons and foot morphology, forensic digital imaging, ridgeology as well as a face reconstruction specialist.
The world of forensics is continuously evolving with the arrival of new technologies, equipment and emerging forensic processes, as well as the continuous flow of case-laws from Canada and abroad. With a network of forensic specialists in Canada as well as world wide, the Forensic Identification Training team is continuously adapting to trends to keep the forensic community informed and at the leading-edge of technology.
