Much of police work depends on the skills, abilities and knowledge of those involved in investigations. Officers investigating offences related to drugs, financial and major crimes must be well versed in the latest techniques, equipment and research findings. As such, the Canadian Police College’s (CPC) Investigative Training Team offers specialized and advanced courses in drug enforcement, theft, white-collar crime, criminal analysis, incident commander, crisi negotiation, forensic interviewing, and more. With Canada’s only polygraph school, the CPC is a leader in investigative training education.
The Investigative Training Team consists of 19 on-site staff as well as in-field instructors and subject matter experts at the top of their specialities. With many of its courses structured for group work, its scenario-based training offers course candidates practical learning experiences drawn from either recent or topical investigations.
ITT’s courses are in high demand, and most are available in French and English. The course calendar is adjusted based on need and, with the exception of the Clandestine Laboratories Investigation course, ITT courses are portable, with instructors travelling across Canada and internationally to fulfill client needs.
