Police Executive Centre

The world is changing rapidly and law enforcement is no exception. Policing is more community-focused, more collaborative, and more sophisticated than ever. To be effective, today's police leaders need a duty belt of specialized skills, knowledge and experience. Whether they have days, weeks or months, the Police Executive Centre’s three programs (Executive Development in Policing (EDP), Senior Police Administration Course (SPAC) and its Workshops) will help police officers in management equip that duty belt.

For information on the CPC’s executive programs, contact:

Isobel Anderson, Manager, Senior Police Administration Course (613) 949-7702 or isobel.anderson@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.

or

Nicole Coallier, Manager, Executive Development in Policing Course (613) 949-1758 or nicole.coallier@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.

Executive Development in Policing (EDP)

The Executive Development in Policing provides executives from all law enforcement bodies the opportunity to build key leadership competencies that are required to meet the challenges of dynamic and complex police organizations.

Delivered on-line and on-site over ten months, the program links theoretical models to real-life situations in a highly interactive learning environment.  Participants will have the opportunity to foster relationships and share best practices with other police executives from across Canada and, in some instances, from around the world.

Contact: Nicole Coallier, EDP Manager, at nicole.coallier@rcmp-grc.gc.ca or 613.949.1758.

Senior Police Administration Course (SPAC)

Middle managers in the law enforcement community (who provide supervision to one or more groups, or are in charge of a national programme) will benefit from the CPC’s Senior Police Administration Course (SPAC). This 13-day residential course has been operating since the mid-1930s, with the objective of providing knowledge, skills and abilities to those requiring capacity development in leadership and management.

Workshops

2010 Program

The Police Executive Centre workshop series is designed for all executives in policing, and attracts participants at the senior executive level from across Canada and abroad. Led by experienced facilitators, with executives and subject-matter experts from the front lines of law enforcement, these highly interactive three-day sessions provide an unparalleled opportunity for law-enforcement professionals to meet, network and establish working relationships. Timely, relevant and sound, with a strong focus on the most current literature and best practices, the PExec workshops provide issue-driven solutions regarding hot-button issues to the highest levels of policing.

Who should attend?

Senior law enforcement decision makers with responsibility for:

  • Strategy and planning
  • Resource allocation
  • Corporate priority setting
  • Human resources and performance management
  • Operational and service standards

Between eight and twelve workshops are offered per year, at both the CPC’s Ottawa and Chilliwack campuses. In addition to scheduled workshops, the CPC can create workshops on request to address topics of concern, and at times, present workshops in other locations.
