Description
This course is designed to improve knowledge of violent offender behaviour as it relates to homicides, sexual assaults, unidentified human remains, preferential and situational child molesters, stalking, threat assessments, mental health and the relationship to criminal offending, and the identification of other observed behaviour.

Eligibility and mandatory requirements
- This course is offered to police and civilians employed by police services. Priority is given first to ViCLAS analysts and then to those working in a specialized unit responsible for investigating violent crimes against person
- Participants who successfully complete the VOB course and who are not registered for the VICLAS course later on, could be asked to retake and complete the VOB course in its entirety, including tuition fees, should they wish to take the VICLAS course at a later date
- Acceptance or refusal in the course is at the discretion of the Canadian Police College
Assessment
- Success in the course is based on participation and completion of all required assignments
- Various evaluation methods are used, including a behavioural analysis written exam
- Re-testing or re-evaluation is conducted at the discretion of the course instructor
Transfer credits
The graduates of the college's Violent Offenders Behaviours course are eligible for credits towards the Bachelor of Arts in Policing at Wilfrid Laurier University. For more information, please refer to the Transfer credits section.
